Chelsea Academy, a secondary academy school in the heart of London, wanted enhanced music projects for its students, ss well as a staff/parent's choir. The aim was to enhance the school community for both staff and local families.
Working closely with the music department, pastoral staff and the senior management team, Choir Community set about delivering these projects. Part of the challenge with the student projects, was getting students who had an interest and passion for music to get involved, even if they weren't studying music formally. We set up regular lunchtime karaoke sessions to seek out these pupils, as well as delivering song-writing and performance workshops.
The Chelsea Academy Community Choir was founded by Choir Community and kindly funded by the Bryan Adams Foundation. Consisting of staff and parents, they found it a wonderful way to let off steam after a hard day at work, not to mention fantastic voice-coaching. Their performances in the school and at local community events were a lovely way to share their hard work, and bring positive experiences to the wider community in Chelsea.
